Jr Laker Wrestling GOALS and GUIDELINES

Jr Laker Wrestling was established in 2000 as BTML Wrestling, Inc. in order to introduce and help increase the amount of participation in the sport of wrestling within Mountain Lakes and Boonton Township.  The team is open to all children in grades 1st - 8th who reside in Boonton Township and Mountain Lakes.  BTML, Inc. is a non-profit organization.

Program Summary

Jr. Laker Wrestling is a member of  the Twin County Junior Wrestling League.  Our practices are on Monday's, Thursday's and Saturdays. Twin County matches are geared toward all  levels of wrestlers and are held on Saturdays.

Wrestler Guidelines

All of our wrestlers must adhere to the following guidelines:

1.  Wrestlers are expected to be at practice, ready to go, at least 5-10 minutes prior to the start of practice.

2.  Wrestlers will wear shorts/sweats, tee shirt/sweat shirt, kneepads, wrestling shoes and headgear to every practice. Jewelry, watches and cut-offs are prohibited.

3.  Wrestlers must not fool around or engage in any type of non-supervised wrestling activity that may cuase injury to another wrestler before, after or during practice.

4.  Wrestlers must pay attention at all times.

5.  Wrestlers must attend all practices unless otherwise excused.  Anyone missing practices or meets (unexcused) will not wrestle in the upcoming meet.

6.  Every wrestler is expected to make the weight they have wrestled off for.  Failure to make that weight will result in a forfeit for the team.

7.  Wrestlers must wear a singlet and team warm-up for every match or tournament.

Parent Guidelines

1. Parents are only permitted in the practice room during practice for the first two weeks of practice. After that time parents are asked to remain in the school hallway or to drop off and pick up their child.

2. Parents are encouraged to cheer on their son or daughter and their teammates. Please let the coaches coach. It is very distracting for the wrestler and very difficult for the coach when a parent coaches their child during a match.

3. Please be respectful towards officials and other town programs. Please remember your are representing your town and the Jr. Laker Wrestling Program.

4. Very often we require parental help for our Twin County matches. We will ask every parent to help and assign tasks for each match.
